Performing more total knee replacements than any other surgeon in Central Florida*, Dr. Mark Hollmann leads the way as one of the most experienced joint replacement specialists in the Greater Orlando area. Dr. Hollmann was also the first surgeon in the area to perform the Makoplasty® robotic partial knee replacement* — also known as Roboknee.

He is Central Florida's first orthopaedic surgeon performing the MAKOplasty® procedure and has been specifically trained in this innovative technique.

It was Dr. Hollmann's experience as an All American collegiate athlete that initially sparked a passion then later launched a career in sports medicine and orthopaedics. Dr. Hollmann completed a fellowship in sports medicine and knee reconstruction surgery. It is this winning combination of his love for sports and extensive training as an orthopaedic surgeon that have shaped a well-rounded career devoted to excellence.

Dr. Hollmann was selected as one of the two physicians to care for the men and women's basketball teams in the 1996 Olympics. He also spent a year as assistant to the team physician for the Orlando Magic. On the local level, he is the team physician for Stetson University athletics and orthopaedic consultant for the local high schools.

He continues to play an integral role in the advancement of orthopaedic surgery in Central Florida and remains on the forefront of sports medicine and arthritis treatment. He is the only Volusia county surgeon that has had the honor of being inducted into the American Association of Hip and Knee surgeons.

Helping to perpetuate this commitment to advancement, he also trains surgeons as a consultant for MAKO Surgical.

The appeal of a historic community with the big-city conveniences brought Dr. Hollmann and his family to West Volusia County where he is happy to be performing surgery at Florida Hospital DeLand – one of the top ten hospitals for total knee replacement surgery according to HealthGrades. He and his wife are involved in many community service organizations and are happy raising their five children in a small town atmosphere.

Dr. Hood is a native Floridian from Palatka who chose the field of orthopaedic medicine because it offered a wide variety of challenges, relatively rapid recovery, and a high level of patient satisfaction. In 1975 he moved to DeLand and established his orthopaedic practice with Doctors Huster and Griffin.

Dr. Hood's practice consists of treating many different orthopaedic conditions, including: sprains, fractures, back and neck disorders, knee and shoulder injuries, and osteoarthritic conditions requiring total joint replacement. He has developed a special interest in the hip and has performed hundreds of hip surgeries annually, including fracture repair and total joint replacement. Dr. Hood is Board Certified in orthopaedics and has been a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 1975.

Dr. Hood is committed to the Christian life and its influence on the healing and well-being of his patients. He has integrated his faith in his practice by pursuing professional competency, adhering to high ethical standards, and by showing concern and compassion toward his patients.
